What hardware are you using for HAM?

    Mobile/Stationary/HT's etc...

I'm currently monitoring only (no license yet) with a yellow Baofeng UV-5r.

    Pics will be added soon!

My brother got a GT-3 Mark II for me on my birthday last month. I need to learn how to use it and start working on licensing training.

Mother in law just got me the same radio for christmas. I strongly suggest programming it via the USB cable. Made life much easier for me.

If you aren't certified yet, start studying and get certified before you start transmitting. You can actually do a lot of damage to emergency communications if you don't know how to properly transmit.

Started using the CHIRP software (free open source download online) to help program my new radio. Makes it a lot easier

I'm still studying for my HAM test. Its taken a back seat to my busyness. I'm hoping within a couple of months I should have it.

CHIRP is excellent software. I have their daily builds in my repository list.

As for the tests, get a ham test app and anytime you have free time such as sitting on the can, sitting in a waiting room, whatever, drill yourself.

I really like my 82. I think they have an eight watt version now.

While this is only a 23 channel CB it is very unique. It was made in Sweden by a company called Handic in the late 70s. The model is the 2305 and it has a jack on the back for a selective calling board but I've never been able to find one. I get great signal and audio reports. It was a $9 Goodwill score.

That is one great looking older radio!
The Base mic looks interesting too?

I have a small assortment of vintage TenTec rigs and they are not just lookers but perform better than almost every newer computerized radio they have been compared with too!

There is just a lot to be said for simple circuitry and noise free reception.

    I always liked TenTecs.

The Handic is unique. Never seen anything like it. I love the burnt orange stripe on black. It reminds me of something out of 2001: A Space Odyssey. I just wish I could find a tone box for it. They made a couple of crystal controlled scanners with the same shape and color scheme. I'm hoping to find a deal on one some day to go with this rig.

Oh and that's not a base mic. Just a really old florescent desk lamp. lol!

Now that the ISS digipeater is back on two meters, I decided to get my packet gear set up again.
