I'm not much of a hard core off-roader but I do occasionally get the tires muddy. Many times it is out of necessity such as today when we had to drive to the local amateur radio repeater site to do some maintenance.

My Liberty really surprises me with its capability. I was almost in over my head on this trip but she took the punishment and shined.

Love it. I have a buddy that runs a KJ and he swears by it on the trail. Nice repeater site BTW

Luck is the by-product of preparation and opportunity colliding. Stay Lucky!

Thanks. I kept it in part-time four wheel drive and that's all I needed. I've only ever had to lock it in four wheel once and that was to climb over some plowed snow to get it parked after a storm. I scraped a few times but there were no ill effects. The alignment was just fine once I got on pavement too.

Echo the above, nice site and rig! Though it makes you wonder, how the heck do they get the propane truck out there...

    Thanks.

As for the propane, that's a good question. I imagine the county has a 4WD pickup or flat bed with a bed sized tank. Now I'm curious. I'll have to ask around.

It's a beautiful Saturday so I decided to drive the old CCC (Civilian Conservation Corp.) road near here. I had forgotten how majestic this vista is. I imagine you can see all the way to near the New York State border. At the very least it's a very good chunk of the northern tier of Pennsylvania. The road was a lot better than I remember but that is probably because of the new pipe line and natural gas well pads up there. People complain about the gas companies but they've fixed up a lot of the dirt roads and even built roads to places that would otherwise be inaccessible.

Photographs just do not do this vista justice.

Looks like someone had been camping here. I may do this myself sometime and just sleep in my Jeep. It's state forest land so why not?

I was also trying to find an antenna tower. I had been there once before but I can't remember how to get back so I shot an azimuth from a known point. Should be easy to find on Google Earth now. I'd be willing to bet the road is now gated anyway. A few inconsiderate f'wits ruin it for everyone.

    EDIT:
This may have been the tower I was looking for. I looked at Google Earth and the azimuth is right. It's right smack dab in the middle of an Anadarko pad site.

THIS is the droid I was looking for... It was a pretty good uphill hike from the CCC road but it was a beautiful day and I needed the exercise.

I worked communications support for the World's End Ultra-Marathon over the weekend. A video and some pics.

These guys had already finished the race, they're just goofing around. These runners really know how to party. Beer and music at the finish line. One of the guys was grilling wild boar and bear meat. It was the first I'd had either one.

It was loads of fun. I'm going to make sure to volunteer for the finish line position next year. ;)

Looks like a good time, wild boar is one of my favorites, never had bear-meat though so it just made the list... I've had giraffe, zebra, crocodile, ostrich, kangaroo, deer and bison so far, well at least for what is considered exotic meats here...

Elk is one of my faves as well. I love a good bison burger too but the best is the Pennsylvania favorite, white tail deer bologna and jerky.

Sounds tasty... Got white tail deer in the backyard... Now to get them turned into bologna must be on the bucketlist...

    No. I'm a lousy hunter.

Next season I'll save some jerky for you. That should be easy to get through customs.

Where is this? We don't get colors like that in southeast Louisiana.
