Hello I just got my first Ham radio, a small portable one for $30 on Amazon. Im looking to prepare a list of codes that are up to date for my area and my family's. I went to afew sites but most of the codes are not working.

Thanks in advance for any advance

When you say "codes" what are you referring to? If you need your local repeater frequencies a great app is Repeater Book. You can enter the frequency and PL codes.

Yes, sorry I meant frequencies. Also in case of a local emergency what top 5 agencies should I be tuned into? Local police, government, transportation?
Thanks in advance for your help. I watch afew YouTube videos but they didn't really have much guidance I can apply.

What to listen to really depends on the emergency and your area. If you haven't already found this site, this is where I would suggest you start. www.radioreference.com
But you may end up dropping a few hundred on a scanner that can receive all the new digital technology. If you're not ready to do that, check the online scanner feeds first.
