Aren't those SOE belts both 1.5 inches? One with a 1.5 buckle, the other with the 1 inch buckle? Maybe the pictures are just playing tricks on my eyes.

I'm waiting on a new EDC belt right now. I've never tried one of the regular 1.5" rigid belts, maybe I should give it a go on your recommendation.

Why web vs leather? Serious question not an argument I've always worn a leather belt so I'm curious to the advantage or preference to web.

    Thanks

usually, a web belt has more of an infinite position possibility, in regards to the buckle and the length of the belt and how tight or loose you can wear it. with leather, you have to pick a hole. obviously you can add your own hole(s), but with a web belt you can put it wherever you want. and if you get one with velcro, it helps to hold the extra piece down and not flop around.

i used to wear a leather belt. but now i just wear one of my 5.11 web belts. they have reinforcement so they're quite stiff and hold the weight of my holster/gun very well. i opted for the 1.75" vs the 1.5" simply because i wanted the larger size....since i'm a larger size, :p.

Thanks I'll have to give one a try I suppose will the 1.75 fit regular loops? I typically wear 5:11 pants So that shouldn't be a problem but now and then I wear blue jeans.

Just picked up a 5.11 Operator belt from Cabala's on sale for 31.99 over the weekend. Only issue i have is that I had to buy a larger belt clip for my IWB holster. Did not realize that the operator belt came as a 1.75" belt. But no big deal. This is the first one I have owned.

It's worth changing the belt attachment.

Maybe I'm alone, but the #1 thing about whether or not I'm going to like a belt is whether it's 1.75".

i do the same thing. i like the larger size of the 1.75" belts.

i like leather belts, too, but not all companies that sell leather gun belts make them in 1.75: widths. and if they do, they're not exactly cheap.

I actually don't like leather gun belts.

If they're sturdy enough to hold my loadout, they're too thick for me. Scuba webbing, or similar, is the way to go.

If I need the leather to look right with my clothes (e.g., suit), I'm more likely to carry in a belly band or a belt under my clothes and then a thin leather belt outside of them just for the aesthetics.
