What really sucks is October is the month that we have a ton of festivals here in the New Orleans area. So I've been missing out, and will continue to miss out, on some really great festivals and live entertainment. I feel as though I could stand for a couple of hours at a time but I don't want to push it. I don't want to drag this injury on any longer than I have to. The festivals will come back again next year.

I'm guessing that this injury is the same as all others when it comes to recovery, listen to your body and don't over-do anything...

I'm glad your leg is healing. I'm still shocked when I think what could have happened.

From today's visit to change the sponge. It's slowly getting there. Everyone is happy with the progress. [IMG]

10/16/17. Might not be able to tell much from the picture but everytime I get the dressing changed its looking better. They put some collagen stuff in it yesterday. Supposed to help with the tissue rebuilding. Another visit this coming Thursday. I need to remember to ask the doctor how much longer he thinks I'll be hooked to the wound vac. [IMG]

A little break from the wound pictures. I put the Kershaw Cryo back in my pocket recently. Love the feel of it and it gets lots of use. [IMG]

Going on five weeks with my new EDC bag. Hoping that by Thanksgiving I won't have a need for it anymore. [IMG][IMG]

Well, it started out about 2" - 2 1/4" deep. Last week it was about 1/4" deep. Tissue is filling in nicely. As far as it closing up, it's length was about 1.5 cm smaller, width about 1 cm smaller. It's getting there. Dressing gets changed tomorrow afternoon.

Everyone at the wound clinic is happy with the progress, so I assume it's going according to plan.
Here's a video showing the system I am using if you care to see how it works. The worst part is the plastic like draping material used to create the seal. If it's not perfect, the stupid pump runs more than it should. Sounds like an old coffee percolator. When you're trying to sleep at night and everything in the house is off, it can be heard all through the house. There's been a couple of nights that I had to wrap the machine in a sweatshirt and tuck under the bed in order to sleep.

Very interesting treatment method, i've never seen it used here and i honestly have no idea how medical professionals would treat a wound like yours...

I had never heard of it until I went to the hospital with the infection. Apparently the old way to treat it would have been to pack it with a wet/dry dressing. But the vac therapy is supposed to heal it 2-3 times faster.

I can imagine... I guess it works by sucking out 'wound-goo' ??
