This is my (as of last night) new Kizer Assist, a collaboration with Justin Gingrich.

Yeah, I take lock-side photos. YOLO.

I'm really looking forward to taking it to work tonight and getting it dirty, but I wanted at least a few shots while it was still pristine. That "new knife" smell...

Uh. Oh yes. I'm going to try a full write-up this weekend, and it might even be good enough to post. Not all of them are.

Still the Assist. "Knife honeymoon" and all that, don't judge me. We've all had it happen with something, or we wouldn't be here.

I still don't like the thumb stud (looks half-finished), and the lock side of the pivot still looks like part of a Lovejoy coupler. But it carries small and secure, and the noise it makes when I open it is neat.

Still the Kizer Assist. I can overlook the pivot pin by now, and the glass breaker because it doesn't get in the way.

But the A/O spring rattles when the blade is open. Grrr.

It may be one of those situations where I like the knife enough to carry it regularly, but there are enough things about it that annoy me, so I'm not afraid to hurt it, if I need to. That would be something different.

Liking a knife is one thing. I love my CRKT M16, but if I need to use it for something that would destroy it to get home alive and well, I would. Knives can be replaced.

Looks like a nice blade. What do you think of it?

I had the AM4 which they couldn’t fix when I sent it back. They gave me a voucher for the price of the knife so I got the AM3. While it seems a bit more compact in my hand, it feels better than it’s bigger brother did. Also the blade seems a bit more stout having lost about .3 inches. It carries like a dream. I’m keeping it as more of a defensive tool than an everyday user so I put a very sharp edge on it, which I took very quickly. The scales are a little slick yet tacky at the same time. It opens quickly, locks up tight and carries well. I’m cautiously optimistic about it.

So, you're actually carrying it today? Mine is languishing in a bag somewhere--for all the same reasons you cited elsewhere... ;)

Yeah, in hospital having surgery so wanted a 'easy' carry that is relatively disposable and native friendly. It did sterling work with an apple this morning. :)
