Re: Share Your Personal EDC Here

Luke,

The Sigg bottle is pretty robust, it is aluminum but well built. The cap seal does go airtight, and after normal movement builds a little pressure making it harder to open, and when it is open, some (a few drops) of the water is forced out, no big deal really. Sigg does make an alternate cap for less than $6 or so, that folds over, so the twist handle is flush with the cap. The cap that it comes with is really solid though.

I stared at them for quite awhile as well and finally bought, glad that I did.

Re: Share Your Personal EDC Here

How do you like the Cold Steel Recon 1 compared to your other knives? It looks like it's seen lots of use compared to the others. Is it your standard go to knife?

Re: Share Your Personal EDC Here

Its seen heavier use than most, I like it for heavier tasks, camping, etc. My other knives don't look as bad because they do not have the same finish as the recon so they do not show scratches. Honestly, I feel that the Benchmade axis lock is a better fitted knife, but the Cold Steel is a bit of a beater at the 50 dollar price tag. My Emerson is my baby for sure. I just joined, so this is my first pic of my gear.

Re: Share Your Personal EDC Here

Good to know. I really like my Benchmade Mini-Barrage, so I'd like to find a cheaper knife for beater duty. Would you recommend the Recon 1 for that?

Re: Share Your Personal EDC Here

Yes, but with a concession. Cold Steel has followed the Apple model and now pumps out new generations of it's knives on a bi-annual basis. Mine is a 3rd generation I believe. The newer Recon knives use a mid-lock system similar to the Spyderco system. You can still find the older models on Amazon if you look for them. I don't like the way the new recon locks up, it feels like a poor copy of a spyderco without the smoothness or balance.

Re: Share Your Personal EDC Here

I go pretty light on personal edc for the simple fact that I am somewhat of a recluse accept for work. And I have my short term SHTF bag in my truck with me. I own an automotive shop that has way more than I would ever need while at work.

Droid smart phone
Stylus stream light
Kershaw speedsafe knife
Stainless steel ballpoint pen
Leatherman multi tool
Bic lighter
Pocket notepad

@1willi4 I think I got the cards at campingsurvival.com, I don't remember for sure though. They've lived in my wallet for a long time. I wasn't in the Boyscouts, and the Marines don't focus on knot tying so the cards help when I need a knot for something specific.

Thanks. I've been trying to find some locally with no luck.
