I've decided to dive into the world of Kydex this week. Haven't gotten the stuff yet, but I'm heading to Tandy this week for some supplies. Very anxious to build some holsters. Pictures will be here soon

What have you guys made with Kydex?

I want to do the same. There are a few things I really want, I just can't bring myself to pay commercial prices for kydex anymore.

I've been wanting to get into it for about 5 years since I got my first IWB holster but never have pursued the idea since finding a nearly perfect holster about a year into daily carry. I'd still like to try making other things with Kydex, though.

It's fun. I've made knife sheaths, an IWB holster, a case for my car remote after the ear broke off and various brackets and such for numerous projects. Be careful not to overheat the kydex but be sure that it heats all the way through.

Somehow I missed the Tandy Leather in Orem/SLC. That alone was worth opening this thread.

I've never made anything with Kydex, but I'd like to. And since materials are nearby, I think once I have time again, I will try it out, as long as I have the tools.

okay, this was kinda rushed...just wanted to try it out! All in all I am pleased. It is not really hard but does require some attention to detail and practice. This sheath is definitely better than the sheath the knife came with!

Very nice for a first attempt!

I'm probably going to order some supplies a little after my wallet recovers from hitting my employee discount day at work. I want a couple different holsters that are just too expensive not to try to make on my own.

Tandy was very good to me. Veg tanned double shoulder tooling hide was only $40. Grabbed one and all my Kydex fixins

Tonight I will start my new project, hybrid IWB. I'M going to take the whole weekend to design/tool/dye/construct

So in standard Dmak fashion, I got too anxious to wait till the weekend to do it fancy. I had new materials and just had to put something together. I now understand all the hype regarding hybrid holsters. They are quiet and extremely comfortable

This is only version 1.0. I was late for work cause I was pounding this out quickly. Couldn't find 2 matching spring clips in my tool box and just threw on some mismatched for today's test drive

Kydex is easy.
