Watcha Wearin? EDC Watch Pic thread...

Does anybody have a good source for Nato (preferably the RAF variation with the fabric keeper) straps? I usually get them from cheapestnatostraps.com because the price/quality ratio is good. But, they're outside the US and my last order has been stuck in customs for a week. I'm starting to think they're not going to show up.

I'm really looking for the seemingly mythical combination of ducati stripes and RAF keepers.
Check out Natostrapco.com . Not sure if they have what you're looking for.

No joy.

Clockwork synergy has them in the normal Nato style, but several I would like are OOS. I think holburns had them too.

It looks like no one makes them in an RAF style...which is okay. Normal NATOs are just a bit bulky.

I'm looking for this pattern

in this style.

But, it's not a huge deal. If those don't clear customs soon, I'll just order from somewhere else. The cheapestnatostraps ones aren't that nice...they're comfortable enough and fine for the price. But, they wear out after 18-24 months.

Yeah. Your pics are part of the reason. It looks like countycomm is selling some more SR-35s in a few weeks if I don't want to track down a used one. And as much as I like the super-minimal SR-3, I also really like the maseratti-ish symbol. And apparently at some point they were upgraded to hacking and hand-winding movements. Which is good.

Have you measured how accurate yours are?

I keep my autos on winders. I'm wearing one of the Maratacs today. It's spot on with my phone. I haven't actually measured any loss/gain but they seldom need adjustment.

Cool.

I actually just got a winder after reading an article about how to use them.

Apparently....if you find the right angle for the spindle, it gets to a point where the force of gravity (diminished by trigonometry) will wind the watch only up to a point where it can't overcome the mainspring, so the rotor just rotates with the watch for a while and it cannot wind past that point....which protects both the mainspring from being over wound and the overwind protection mechanisms from wearing prematurely.

Which is just cool. Which is why I own more than 1 nice watch and 1 beater in the first place.

I'm actually wavering on the maratac, though. They look awesome, but it's about the same size, a similar style, and the same unbranded seiko movement as my invicta. So, it's a not insignificant amount of money for a watch that would be a little redundant....especially since I have 5 40mm or 41mm dive watches at this point.

I've got a friend who has one and is probably coming into town for blade show. I'll see if he'll let me wear it for a bit to decide.

Maybe that's a good reason to look at a Steinhart first!

Yeah. I don't have a GMT (nor do I really travel enough to make use of one). And I slightly prefer 42mm.

Either way, it would probably be a temporary ownership thing. So, I might as well try to find one used. Watches are annoying...so many awesome ones out there, but almost all of them pale in comparison to my Seamaster, at least to my taste. It's almost more fun to learn about them and shop for them than it is to own them.

Still wearing the same watch every day...

But, I picked up the ones I inherited. Some are in desperate need of restoration.

And the one I knew about.

Which I'm going to try to sell. Any idea where / how to do it without selling to a dealer for 60% of its value?

I'm workin' on it. There's a 100-post minimum, and I just don't see that many things I actually want to interact with on it.
I traded a watch on the wtt section after only being a member for a couple weeks and not very many posts

Fathers day watch...my grandfather's.

The spring bars were completely corroded. So, I replaced those. I need to get it serviced and restored, but one more day of wear in sixty years or so shouldn't hurt it.

And the backup watch. For the pool at my in-laws (older pic of a newish watch...love it).
